Terms and Conditions

Riverwatch Farm follows the American Dairy Goat Association Recommended Trade Practices for Members.

  • All sales are final. It is buyer's responsibility to carefully inspect any goat being purchased to make sure the goat/goats satisfy their standards. For the sake of the biosecurity of our entire herd, once a goat leaves our property that goat cannot be returned.
  • Reservations are free and are not a contract.  After making a reservation on a doe or buck, we will contact you when that animal becomes available.  Should you decline or not respond, the reservation will be offered to the next person on our wait list. If you agree to the animal, a 50% non-refundable deposit will be due.
  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold a goat. Should you decided not to purchase the goat or do not pick up the goat in the agreed upon time or cannot be reached to confirm that you wish to continue boarding the animal or the buyer is 90 days late picking up the goat, the deposit will be retained and the goat will be offered up for sale to the next person on our wait list or made available on our sales page.
  • Arrangements must be made in advance and goat/goats must be picked up within 30 days. A boarding fee of $2.50 per day will be incurred after 30 days from receipt of deposit.
  • Transport arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. Any transportation related fees, health certificates, testing are to be paid by the purchaser.
  • Riverwatch Farm is not responsible for the breeding outcome of livestock. Breeding selection becomes the sole responsibility of the buyer.

Terms of Sale

  • In order to maintain the integrity of the biosecurity of our herd, animals may not be returned once they have left our property because we cannot know for certain that a goat has not been exposed to disease after it has left our herd.   As a state licensed dairy, we must remain a closed herd.  This is also for the buyer's protection as the buyer can rest assured that our farm is tested annually by a licensed vet and results are reported back to the state annually.  Our herd is tested for CAE, Johnne's, CL, TB, Brucillosis, and Q fever. You can rest easy knowing that we are a disease free herd and diligently strive to maintain a healthy herd.
  • Goat health and productivity are closely tied to management practices! We can only guarantee animal health, performance and fertility under our management practices.  Feed, minerals, access to FRESH and CLEAN water, quality hay and a stress free environment with adequate shelter all play a role in productivity.  Any changes in environment and management add stress and leave goats vulnerable.  It is important that the buyer understands this and does their do-diligence to take precautions with the environment, management and supportive care during transition.
  • Since management practices have such a profound impact to the overall  health and fertility  of  a goat, we do not guarantee the fertility of does unless hermaphroditism becomes apparent as the animal matures. The buyer shall provide  a statement from a veterinarian that the said doe is indeed a hermaphrodite.
  •  A doe sold as bred is not guaranteed to be pregnant, but rather is guarnteed to have been exposed to a buck.
  •  A buck should be able to serve and settle a doe after reaching the age of 1 year old. Should the buck prove to be a non-breeder, the buyer shall notify us within 60 days from the first time he was used for service, provided the animal was over 1 year of age at the time of service and the buyer shall provide a statement from a veterinarian that said buck is sterile. The buyer is expected to provide reasonable care and feed. We cannot offer any guarantees If the animal has been neglected. We have the option of making a satisfactory replacement of equal value or refund of original purchase price.

For the safety of everyone, and to sustain farm biosecurity, no outside animals will be permitted on the property. Please do not bring your dog with the intent of leaving in your vehicle because our entire property is protected by a livestock guardian dog. It is our priority to maintain a calm and relaxed environment for everyone here at Riverwatch Farm. Thank you for your understanding.
